My Story

This is our beautiful Josie with her daddy at the Atlanta Zoo! We want to thank you all so much for the wonderful anniversary party! We felt so blessed to be able to be a part of this amazing day! My husband and I tried for 5 years to get pregnant - we went through 2 different doctors in Knoxville, TN and many different treatments and procedures - and lots of shots!!! All were unsuccessful. We had given up the hope of being parents when our Knoxville doctor (thank you Dr. Gayla Harris!) referred us to RBA! We met with Dr. Elsner and she talked us through the process of using a donor egg. We are so grateful for her and her wonderful staff - the logistics of us living in Knoxville and our dr. being in Atlanta were difficult at best but we had many email and phone conversations!! On our second attempt we got pregnant with our sweet Josie! She is the love of our lives and we cannot thank RBA enough!! We have another embryo waiting - so hopefully we will have another success soon!!

My Story

We were thrilled to see Dr. Toledo at the 30th Anniversary Party and to introduce our son Jared(16) to him. Jeff and I attempted to conceive for 3 & 1/2 yrs before seeking the help of RBA. We were successful on the 2nd IVF attempt and found out we were pregnant the 1st day of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games! What a special day it was that we will never forget. Thanks to all the RBA staff including Dr. Kort (RIP) who actually performed our implantation. What a truly caring and special facility you are. BTW- Jared is a straight A student, interested in studying Chemical & environmental engineering at GA Tech soon. Leslie Conner

RBA 30th Anniversary Party
My Story

We had trouble getting pregnant from the begining without any obvious reason. Then when we finally got pregnant we had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. We were crushed. I switched my ObGyn since I didn't feel they were helping me at all. My new ObGyn immediately suggested I start seeing Dr. Toledo. I am so grateful for that referral! We tried IUI three times without success then advanced our efforts to IVF. The fresh attempt with one embryo did not take. We were a little disappointed, but still hopefull since Dr. Toledo had discussed our plan B already, so we just put one step in front of the other and proceeded with a frozen embryo transfer of two of our remaining 4 embryos. One of them took! And he is our perfect little boy, Jack. He was as healthy as can be and the pregnancy and delivery went well. He was born July 6, 2012. He was 10lbs 11oz and 23.25 inches long! He has been the sweetest baby and such a joy! Worth all the pills, shots, creams, and patches. I can't wait to do it again!

My Story

My partner Asaf and I embarked on the journey to build a family with the help of a gestational surrogate in 2011. At our first visit to RBA, the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, to explain the process very clearly, and to answer all of our questions. Their warmth and kindness was greatly appreciated during a time when we felt daunted by all of the new medical terminology and concepts and apprehensive about how the process would unfold. All future interactions with the nurses and doctors at RBA featured more of the same – they took the time to clearly and patiently explain what was happening with great compassion – and humor when needed! We have nothing but good things to say about our experience with RBA, and we are now the happy – and frazzled and sleep-deprived – parents of two very energetic twin children!

After trying to conceive for 13 years through 9 ectopic pregnancies we finally became parents of a beautiful boy Breslin in 2011. Our journey was not easy. The Drs at RBA had faith that we would become parents and The Lord finally blessed us with Breslin, he is smart, funny and most of all lovable ! We thank the Drs at RBA for helping us through these few years and we are looking forward to having more babies!

My Story

We met with Dr Witt for the Mr....then it seems "the rest of life" got in the way and the chapter got closed. Years passed and my OB suggested we look at it again since the "book was about to be closed" as well. We met with Dr Straub. A plan was put in place! Then I needed ankle surgery :( but that wasnt going to stop us at this point. We accelerated my PT for optimal recovery, started the program which included grounding my traveling husband -- and the strangest coincidence happened - we were driving past the RBA office location and Dr Straub called with the amazing news that we were pregnant! We were So Overjoyed! Wyatt Thomas Brashear was born on Oct 31, 2012... A little early (33 weeks) but healthy and brought home the week of Thanksgiving. We are in love. And forever grateful to the entire practice for their skill, dedication and most of all their unwavering support and amazing care!

There are so many ways to tell our story. It was a long, hard journey. Every staff member at RBA played a part in the safe arrival of our little girl back in 2011. We are so grateful for every single doctor, nurse, lab worker, and reception desk members that worked with us for so many months. Not one single day goes by that we don't send a prayer of thanksgiving up to God for all He has done through the careful hands and loving hearts of the RBA staff. May you know and feel the love and thankfulness that we have toward each and every one of you!

The first day my husband and I walked into Dr Slayden's office we had a "this is it" mindset, if he couldn't help us then we might have to look towards adoption. From the first meeting he was so compassionate and upbeat and instilled hope in us that we had just about lost during our journey and in dealing with other facilities. He and his wonderful team worked with us and kept us in the loop the whole time and we were pregnant 3 months after that first meeting. I can't thank the Rba team enough for helping us through this emotional journey. I feel so blessed each day as I look at this beautiful little miracle. We will definitely be working with the Rba team again in the near future.

My Story

Jarrett Patrick North, now 14, came to us through the renowned RBA and specifically Dr. Kort, under his care, through our first IVF visit here in Atlanta. We moved here in 1998 from Chicago, after numerous other "failed" treatments/cycles, and IT ALL FINALLY CLICKED when we came to Atlanta and found the loving Dr. Kort....who said we can go through a few more clomid cycles or "cut to the chase" and go straight to IVF. We said, "Let's go for it." We realize how fortunate we were on the 1st try with IVF and Dr. Kort and the wonderful nurses and staff were with us the whole way. WE LOVE YOU GUYS WITH ALL OUR HEARTS. My Story

Owen Anthony Hall, our miracle baby boy, was born on October 26, 2011. Thanks to Dr. Toldeo and his staff at RBA, we were able to conceive through an IVF frozen cycle. We never imagined that becoming parents would be so difficult... and would ultimately bring such joy to our lives. We are grateful every day to be able to experience it, the ups and downs and in betweens. I think that going through this experience taught us a lot about what really matters in life and it also made us stronger. There was a lot of fear and anxiety going into it and the thought of "what if" can really make you start to think, especially when so much is invested financially and emotionally. We went through it with the tender guidance of Dr. Toldeo. We never gave up and thankfully round 2 worked. As a result, little Owen is the light of our lives! He's almost 2 years old and keeps us on our toes each and every day.

My Story

My husband and I had been married nearly nine years, when we decided to give infertility treatment a second go. The second time around we were under the care of Dr. David Keenan. Dr. Keenan made us feel at ease with the entire IVF process by explaining every step and making sure we were comfortable with what was happening as we proceeded. The staff in the Marietta Clinic at that time became life family and they rooted us on and encouraged us as a real family would. A few days after our tenth anniversary, we were told that we were indeed pregnant! YAY! Not too long after that, an ultrasound confirmed only one heartbeat instead of the two; and we learned that we had one child in heaven and one hanging onto life. On January 23, 2009, our daughter Bella can BELLOWING into the world, and she has not slowed down since. I thank God for Dr. Keenan and his staff, and I thank God for bestowing the honored title of Mom and Dad upon my husband and I when He gifted us with Bella.

My Story

How is it possible for two people who are married & love each other to both have fertility issues? Well it happens & it happened to us. We had a 2 year struggle to have our beautiful daughter, Haley. After finding out I had PCOS & my husband had a hydrocele and a varicocele we decided to try every trick in the book before going through IVF. I went on Chlomid & my husband had surgery to correct his issues. Discouraged & feeling hopeless we still had no luck. We went to see Dr. Toledo at RBA & we prayed IVF would work. Dr. Toledo assured us that we were perfect candidates for IVF & that all he needed was 1 sperm. We were BLESSED enough to have success the 1st try & we still have 10 embryos waiting for us for when we try for a sibling for Haley. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Toledo & all of the staff at RBA for blessing us with our miracle baby. There's no explanation as to why people struggle, but in the end I am thankful. I'm a better mom for having gone through the struggle.

My wife and I found out the we were having fertility issues back in 2011. We were pretty crushed by the discovery as most people might be. We went to RBA for assistance and guidance, working with Dr. Michael Witt and Dr. Scott Slayden. They coached us through a variety of possible solutions eventually leading us to the birth of our son Jordan. We were thrilled with the support we received at RBA and are thankful that we now have the opportunity we have to grow our family.

We met online, married within 18 months and dreamed of starting a family as soon as we bought our first home together. We had no idea that having a child would be more mentally and physically challenging that we ever imagined. Happily seeing friends get pregnant and have babies (and sometimes a 2nd baby) during our struggle was a secret sadness that we kept deep inside. Financially this was our one shot. We were lucky. Very lucky. Our lives and hearts changed forever when we welcomed our precious miracle into this world July 2012. Thank you RBA!

I am so grateful to Dr. Robert Straub and RBA for making my dream of having a child a reality! I wanted children my whole life but life's circumstances delayed my starting a family. I was 42 when I began IVF treatment and 43 when I gave birth. Even though the statistics were not in my favor, I had faith that I was on the right path and confidence in Dr. Straub. I was fortunate to have 7 eggs retrieved and we used ICSI for fertilization which resulted in 5 viable embryos. I decided to use all of them and the result was a healthy baby girl, Katie, on our first attempt! She will be 3 in two months. Katie is truly a blessing, my pride and joy! Thank you Dr. Straub and the staff at RBA! (Written permission from photographer to use professional photograph)

My Story

At 33 I thought I would have no trouble getting pregnant. After 3 months of failed IUI attempts with clomid I found out my AMH was low for someone of my age and that IVF would be the best option to get pregnant. I was told that I may not be able to use my eggs since my AMH indicated that I had few eggs left. My partner and I were in shock and I was crushed. After taking some time to gather our thoughts, we met Dr. Mitchell-Leef and she said that all she needed was one. One egg?! I could do that, right? Yep! Actually we ended up with 2 that made it to blastocyst stage. One is our amazing daughter, Adelee, and the other is waiting to be her sibling. While our infertility journey wasn't as long as others, it was an emotional roller coaster. I've always wanted to be a mom and we are eternally grateful to Dr. Mitchell-Leef, Nancy, Krista and all of the staff that helped create this miracle. We cannot imagine life without her.

My Story

We started our infertility journey with RBA in January of 2010. We had been trying clomid for 1 1/2 years with my OB/GYN when he decided that we needed to seek further expertise. At our first meeting with Dr. Kort I immediately felt his compassion and I knew that he was the doctor for us. He was absolutely amazing through our journey. Our first attempt at IVF failed. Our second attempt worked only later to find out that I had miscarried twins. For us it was the third time that was the charm. We implanted two embryo and found out at our six week ultrasound that we had one healthy embryo with a strong heartbeat, On July 5, 2011 I delivered a healthy and beautiful 8 lb 11 oz baby girl. She has been an absolute shinning light in our lives and touches everyone she comes in contact with. We were devastated to hear of the passing of Dr Kort and we will forever be thankful for him and his staff for making our dreams of parenthood a reality. The Shippey's

My Story

We were referred to Dr Slayden and Dr Witt from Athens in the summer of 2008. With the help of Scott Slayden and his staff I was quickly diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and on my way to starting a long awaited family. After a series of tests, medications, ultrasounds and a few IUI's I was more than frustrated when nothing seemed to be working. It was that last month of disappointment, after about 6 months of aggressively trying that we were given the good news in November of 2008. We delivered a healthy and precious 8lb 9oz baby boy Aug 19, 2009. And surprisingly, about 8 months later were pregnant again with his sister, born March 2, 2011. Dr Slayden warned me that could happen but I wasn't convinced, lol. We are so happy and blessed and very grateful to RBA.

My Story

After several attempts of trying to have a baby and nothing was happening in September 2011 my husband and I visited RBA and met with DR Mitchell-Leef and Nancy . After running some tests we found out my AMH level was very low at 0.69 and with me only being 35 years old DR Mitchell-Leef was very honest that our chances of conceiving were very slim and we needed to harvest my eggs right away. I was not able to do the full ivf cycle due to some other health issues I needed to take care of at the time . My husband and I were very touched when DR Mitchell-Leef took the time out of her busy schedule to write a letter to the insurance company to help us get the procedure approved. With all the odds stacked against us we couldn't believe that we conceived on the first try with one egg and welcomed our son on 12/18/2012. We can not thank DR Mitchell-Leef , Nancy and the entire RBA Staff for holding our hands thru this process.

My Story

We became RBA patients back in 2007. Getting to where we are now, was a very long and bumpy roller coaster, and I am so glad to have had RBA on our side. In Nov 2007 we found out we were pregnant with twins. Unfortunately due to a heart shaped uterus (bicornuate uterus), the placenta was not getting a normal blood flow from the beginning, and our girls had to be delivered at 25 weeks 4 days. We only had Isabelle for 5 hours and her sister, Alexis, for 3 months and 1 day. It took us a while to try again and when we did in June of 2009 we had an early miscarriage. Finally on November 24, 2010 we became very proud parents to our first son, Gabe. And with our last two remaining embryos, we had our 2nd son, Nick, on June 29, 2012. We went through tremendous lost before we were blessed with our amazing boys and I am thankful each and every day for our miracles. They have the best guardian angels anyone could ask for, their sisters. Never give up Hope and Faith! It is all we have sometimes.

My Story

My husband and I tried for 3 years to have a baby. We were told that we would never be able to conceive on our own due to my damaged fallopian tubes. Our only hope was to go through invitro. We decided to go through the process after a lot of tears and prayers. We had the option to use a doctor in our hometown, but decided we would make the two hour drive to Atlanta everyday because we felt so loved and cared about at RBA. We had a peace about the entire process. I never questioned what we were doing. I knew this was all in God's plan for us. Needless to say, I gave birth to twin girls, Ali and Riley on February 11, 2010. They were born at 37 weeks and had no complications. Ali was 5 lbs 14 oz. and Riley was 5 lbs. 1 oz. They are such a joy and a blessing. I couldn't imagine lfe without them. We love and will always be forever grateful for RBA. *I recently gave birth to our 3rd girl, Harper Leigh. She was our little suprise. :)

My husband and I call the years when we were at RBA "the dark years". I had 3 miscarriages, one at 18 weeks, and each one brought increased infertility. Dr Kort told me, "it is as though you have been living under a dark cloud". He offered us options for my treatment, and was happy to accept my compromise as a treatment plan. Soon after that we conceived my first baby, and finally becoming parents was just as amazing as we ever hoped it would be. Now I run into my then-coworkers with my four children around me, and they say, "And you thought you'd never have children...".

When I decided to become a single mom by choice, I had no idea what my journey would entail. After several unsuccessful attempts with my OB/GYN, I was referred to Dr. Shapiro. When I met him in 2001, I knew I was in the right place. I don't think either one of us knew how challenging my road to motherhood would be though. After 6 IUIs, an IVF, and 4 FETs, I have been blessed with my three living children. I also had identical twin boys who died shortly after they were born prematurely and several other early losses. Dr. Shapiro and his staff were always compassionate and supportive and helped me get through the tough times. Dr. Slayden also helped save my soon to be 10 year old son as he successfully performed emergency surgery for a ruptured hetero ectopic when I was 8 weeks pregnant. I am so thankful I found RBA and Dr. Shapiro as I can't imagine life without my children.

RBA made our dreams come true! After several years of trying to conceive, we started treatment at a different Atlanta-area fertility center. We underwent multiple IUIs and different drug protocols, without success. The entire time we felt we were a number to them, not two people who wanted a family more than anything. When we made the decision to try IVF we decided to seek treatment from Dr. Toledo. Within minutes of meeting him, I knew he was the doctor for us. He and his entire staff were compassionate, understanding and supportive throughout our entire process. We successfully transferred 2 embryos… 36 weeks later I delivered two healthy, beautiful babies!! Our twins have changed our live for the better in ways words can’t express. Dr. Toledo and his staff will forever be consider heroes in my eyes, and will always have a special place in our hearts!!!

I work for an OB/GYN physician and not being able to get pregnant when you are surrounded by it everyday was really hard, especially having to be supportive to patients who "accidentally" got pregnant. Dr. Slayden and his staff were an amazing source of support throughout my infertility journey, there were many ups and downs, which was emotionally and at times physically challenging. I can't thank the staff and physicians of RBA for helping my husband and I throughout every step of this journey. I tried many medications and was on board to do IUI until that plan took a turn. At the end of our journey we found ourselves signing up for IVF. I have to say making those decisions were the most stressful and hardest in our lives thus far! We're so fortunate to have had a successful pregnancy from the first try and feel beyond blessed and thank God every time we look into our son's eyes. Words will never be able to express my gratitude towards everyone at RBA, but I will forever try!

I truly believe that God puts the right people in your life at the right time. My husband and I tried for two years to get pregnant (Clomid, IUIs with my ob/gyn, acupuncture and diet changes...you name it.) When I sat in Dr. Shapiro's office for the first time, I was already broken from everything we had been through. He told me two things that day that changed my life: that it wasn't my fault that I hadn't gotten pregnant (I had been told many times that losing weight would fix all my issues) and that one way or another, my husband and I were coming out of this with a baby. In May of 2012 we did our first IUI with Dr. Shapiro--and it worked!! Dr. Shapiro and his staff made a really trying, stressful time as positive and smooth as possible. I have recommended him to several people based on the wonderful experience we had! In February 2013, my husband and I welcomed our beautiful daughter Emma Scarlett into the world! She is perfect in every way and we have God and Dr. Shapiro to thank!

After 2 miscarraiges in 3 months, my husband and I were shocked and heartbroken. The OB that I was seeing at the time lacked the compassion, empathy, knowledge and skills that we wanted and needed in order to get answers about why we were losing our babies. My husband and I happened to meet Dr. Elsner at his Duke alma mater event. She suggested we look into coming to RBA for a full work-up. We came, and met with Dr. Toledo. He immediately confirmed what our guts had been telling us- that a myomectomy would not be a good choice, as we do not accept blood products for religious reasons. Dr. Toldeo looked at us as real people, and took into consideration our beliefs and values. Unfortunately, we had a 3rd miscarriage, but now had a plan of what to do next and the support of the wonderful crew at RBA. 6 months after the 3rd miscarriage, we were pregnant again. 9 months later we welcomed Olivia, and 3 weeks ago, Soleil was born. Our family is now complete. Thank you, RBA!

We consider ourselves blessed beyond measure that at age 42 and 46, with odds of less than 5% for natural conception, we were able to concieve our beautiful baby boy through the assistance of RBA! Dr. Slayton and staff was absolutely amazing, and we will never be able to express our gratitude for his kindness and positive nature throughout our journey. Our little one is 14 months now, and continues to steal our hearts daily!

My Story

After 2 years of unsuccessful treatments in Memphis, including 2 IVF cycles, we made the decision to go to Atlanta and meet with Dr. Slayden on the recommendation of a friend. After that first visit, we were so full of hope and joy and ready to begin our adventure with RBA. We were fortunate in that we could travel and spend those few weeks in Atlanta with Dr. Slayden and his amazing team. He was, and still is, such a blessing to our family. In November 2009, we welcomed our son Graham to this world. He is our amzaing miracle baby!!

We cannot begin to thank Dr. Slayden and his staff enough for these two special people. ' Our lives have been filled with laughter and joy since the day they were born. We miscarried with our first pregnancy, and I knew that I could not handle (emotionally) another loss. Dr. Slayden and his staff walked us step by step through this process, and our family is complete because of them. After starting treatments in January 2009, we found out that we were expecting in April. These two were born at 34 weeks and 4 days, healthy kids. They spent some time in the NICU, however since the day they came home have been keeping us on out toes. RBA has been such a blessing, and we thank you daily for that!

Our little guy was two years in the making and in the freezer, but he was well worth the wait! Dr. Kort was our guardian angel throughout the process and Dr. Mitchell-Leef continued her track record of near-perfect implantations. We are so blassed to have our little guy in our life, and there is no way we could have done it without RBA. Happy anniversary!

My Story

Our two year old son was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition that has profoundly affected him, both developmentally and medically. Soon after receiving his diagnosis, we were told that I was a carrier and would be unable to have a healthy child. Fortunately, this prognosis changed when we found RBA. We were so lucky to have Dr. Slayden and his wonderful, compassionate staff (Tracey, Kim, Mori and Jennifer). After two rounds of IVF and genetic counseling, we had enough embryos to send for PGD (Pre-Genetic Diagnosis). While only ten percent of the embryos were healthy, we were fortunate to have a successful transfer last winter. We were beyond thrilled to welcome Baby Owen to our family on July 30, 2013. He had a big entry into our lives, weighing a whopping 10 lbs 4 oz! We look forward to returning to Dr. Slayden in a few years to transfer our remaining FE.

We struggled for two years before we met Dr. Mitchell-Leef and all the wonderful nurses and staff at RBA. We knew after our initial meeting we were going to start our family with their expertise and dedication. We set our course using the frozen egg bank, My Egg Bank. This was a difficult decision for me, letting go of my dreams of a baby with my own eggs. Dr. Mitchell-Leef and her team made the process so much easier and always kept faith we would have our baby. Our little miracle, Leon Dominic, was born on July 13, 2013. We are so in love and so grateful for RBA and Dr. Mitchell-Leef.

We knew going in that our chances of becoming parents without help would be almost impossible. My husband is paralyzed from a car accident 20 years ago. For the longest time we denied that there might be a chance we wouldn't be parents... Then came RBA. Initially we saw Dr. Whitt because of his research with spinal cord injuries and infertility and after doing necessary testing he sent us to Dr. Straub. I cannot begin to thank him and the entire staff at RBA enough for what they do and did for us. After doing only one round of IVF with ICSI, we welcomed our baby girl, Evelyn Day on July 25th, 2013. Our journey has now officially begun!!

We were both over 35, but so desperately wanted a biological child of our own. We did two rounds of IUI with another Atlanta firm, only to find that my "stats" had declined. The firm informed us that they did not think IVF would assist us in having a child and recommended we consider adoption. We were disappointed. Several months passed. After searching support groups online, I came across websites targeted at those who were in similar circumstances---less than optimal "stats." There I found a recommendation for a doctor a different firm. I met with him, then a few months passed again. My husband met with him. Dr. Toledo confirmed that the "stats" were not hopeful and advised us that the decision was ours based on our tolerance for risk, faith, and available funds. He did have experience in situations such as ours helping families conceive. All we needed was one sperm and one egg to meet! We decided to do one round of IVF...our son Isaiah was born February 1, 2012.

A thousand characters aren't enough to explain how we feel about everyone at RBA. After being told by a urologist that we would never conceive our own children, I stumbled across the RBA site and made an appointment with Dr. Straub. He took the time to explain everything to us, answered all of our questions and most importantly, gave us hope. Dr. Straub's staff coordinated our treatment with Dr. Witt and our RBA journey began. After several procedures for both my husband and I we proceeded with IVF. We transferred two embryos and our first ultrasound confirmed two sacs and one heartbeat--we were thrilled! But we (and Dr. Straub) were in for a shock; the follow-up visit confirmed TWO heartbeats. The ultrasound tech had to recheck my file to make sure she read it correctly. I will never forget the feeling I had when she turned the screen and I saw our 2 tiny jellybeans wiggling around. Our babies were born eight months later and it's all thanks to you. You are our heroes. THANK YOU!!

I went to RBA for a fertility workup, expecting to start a round of Clomid, but quickly discovered both of my tubes were blocked. So, out they came and we went straight to IVF, expecting it to work after the first or second try. Low and behold, several rounds later, with another couple of cancelled cycles, we realized we were a "special case" and started to lose hope. We came to Dr. Toledo with some "out of the box" ideas and both he and his amazing nurses (Lisa and Julie and u/s techs...shout out to Betsy!!) supported me 100% as we tried some alternative treatments. Low and behold, the 4th IVF was the charm and we welcomed our miracle baby boy into the world on 12/12/12. We couldn't have done it without the love, support, and encouragement of our RBA family. We never gave up and neither did they!

My Story

Our story isn't the "typical" RBA story. Neither my husband nor I had any problems achieving pregnancy, in fact I was pregnant six times in four years. Our issue was a surprise when our first son was born. Jack was born 11 weeks early with an incredibly rare heart condition, GACI. After two excruciating months in the hospital and six blissful weeks at home Jack passed away. After a failed adoption and four subsequent pregnancies two of which were lost to the same heart condition Jack had and two untested miscarriages which we can only assume were also lost to GACI we opted to look to RBA for help. Our amazing Genetics Counselor suggested egg donation. We needed to break our DNA chain and donation was our answer. Ten days after the transfer of two "text book perfect" embryos we were pleasantly surprised with a positive pregnancy test and three weeks later saw two strong heartbeats at our ultra sound. We have two healthy happy three year olds and are forever grateful to RBA.

The staff was wonderful and patient with us every step of the way. They answered all our questions and they were truly there for us. I remember the day like it was yesterday. It was January 8th, 2010. There was a major snow and ice storm in Atlanta, and that was the morning I had to have my IUI. The whole city had shut down but not RBA, they were ready for us and that is when it happened; Sweet Olivia!! Thank you Jesus and RBA. I had tried "everything," including Clomid, acupuncture, dietary changes, traditional Chinese medicine, five IUIs, and one cancelled IVF cycle. When we met Dr. Kort at RBA, we felt very confident in his expertise and he was honest with us about our slim chances of conceiving (less than 10%). After almost 6 years of hoping to become parents, we had our daughter in 2011. My Story

At the age of 18, I became a reluctant patient of RBA due to years of female issues & surgeries that were no longer able to be treated by my OB/GYN. By the time my husband & I got married right out of college I was already a regular face in the RBA waiting room, had countless surgeries & procedures under my belt, & my chances of ever conceiving were very grim (I was 22). At that point, it was recommended that I switch to be under the care of Dr Shapiro, who could hopefully offer a fresh perspective & help get us on the path to parenthood. That was the best decision I made in my life. Dr. Shapiro's out of the box thinking finally gave me some hope and our first son was born a month before my 26th birthday, followed by our surprise"bonus baby" a year and a half later. I can not say enough about Dr. Shapiro & the entire RBA staff. Dr. S's love of children, his passion for what he does & his genuine care & concern for his patents is unmatched by any other physician I have ever had.

I first went to RBA in 2008 after trying to conceive for almost a year. I suffered from PCOS and was not ovulating. I met with Dr. Straub and his wonderful staff and felt like family from the start. Everyone was so nice and supportive. I was lucky and conceived on our first try of Clomid and Ovidrel. I delivered a beautiful, healthy baby girl in February 2009. We are trying again now but have not been so lucky this go around. I have done several cycles of Femara and Ovidrel, but I have faith and trust. RBA is top-notch in their field and I owe everything to them for giving me my precious daughter. I am praying and hoping for another soon. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

My husband and I were trying to have a baby for six years. I went to see Dr. Elsner in 2011 at RBA. Nothing was wrong with me is what I was told over and over again. Dr. Elsner said there is something wrong with you, not sure what but I'm not leaving this room until we get answers!!! Dr Elsner did find out something was wrong with my fallopian tubes and said we will have to do surgery. This happened after the first trail of in vitro, when I was not pregnant. I had two frozen eggs left after my surgery and she told me to take one month to heal and come back and you will be pregnant! She was right. May 2012 our little boy was born. Best thing that has happened to our family. I would do it all over again.

We met Dr. Kort four years ago. After what seemed like a roller coaster journey, a year and half later, we were blessed with a beautiful daughter who is now a vivacious three year old. Fortunately, we had frozen embryos left, however, when it was time to begin the journey again to expand to a family of four, Dr. Kort was battling his own medical challenges. We had switched doctors to Dr. Straub as Dr. Kort had stopped seeing patients. Our first appointment with Dr. Straub was the day Dr. Kort died. In a very surreal environment, our next journey began in what would be a much harder year and a half filled with miscarriages and disappointment. Committed to staying the course and being hopeful, we are tickled blue or pink that Baby Daniels is expected in July 2013. Our family of four would never have existed without RBA and its amazing staff. Our first child was born with a genetic desease. 3 years after his birth, my husband and I went to go see Dr. Shapiro. Dr. Shapiro and his team explained to us the protocol and the possible hardship. We decided to go thru the process. Out of 27 eggs, 5 did not have the desease. We implanted 1 and froze 3. I did not become pregnant. We decided to wait a little and try again. During the thawing process for the second time, one of the 2 eggs did not survive the thawing. So, i had 1 egg implanted. This egg was a strong little one and 9 months later, our little girl was born thanks to the RBA team

Our miracle triplets are truly a blessing from God! After 6 years of infertility, in March 2008, my husband and I received a phone call of a lifetime. A family friend offered to donate her embryos to us so we could fulfill our dream of having a family. June 2008 we transferred 3 frozen embryos, with a 7% chance that all 3 would take. In July, we had the amazing surprise of 3 beautiful babies on the ultrasound! It was a difficult pregnancy, with bed rest at 18 weeks & hospital bed rest at 22 weeks. Maggie, Abby, and Cooper were born at 28 wks, weighing 2.1, 2.3, &. 1.6 lbs. After 8,10, &13 difficult weeks in the NICU, my babies came home on heart monitors and my son was on oxygen. The first year was a blur! I had an amazing amount of help from family, friends, and even strangers who we are forever grateful for. Maggie, Abby, & Cooper are now 4 1/2 years old and are doing great! We are so thankful to RBA and the many people who helped our dream of becoming parents come true.

My Story

My journey began in 2004 when my ex-husband and I tried for some time to get pregnant and then a friend told us to go to RBA and see Dr. Kort. We did IVF one time and were blessed with my twins, Ansley and Carter. It was a rough pregnancy and I had them at 28 weeks, so they spent quite some time in the NICU, but I am happy to say they are healthy and happy. Funny thing is, after they came out of the hospital, I decided to go back to work, but I thought I had the flu because I had been sick for over a week. I went to the doctor and found out...surprise, I was pregnant with my Emma-Kate. So, with 6 embryos left over, I found out a friend and his wife were having problems getting pregnant and after a lot of thought and prayer, we gave them 3 embryos and now she has triplets. We both had 2 girls and a boy, both had them at 28 weeks and both have healthy happy children that made it through those grueling days in the NICU. I thank God everyday for my 3 beautiful children and for Dr. Kort.

My husband and I had suffered 5 loses before we were sent to see Dr. Toledo. He found that I had a clotting disorder that was causing us to miscarry. He put me on a regimen of Lovinox and baby aspirin to take each month when I was ovulating. When we didn't get pregnant we decided to try IUI but with no success. At that point we decided to try IVF but we wanted to wait until January to start so I could switch to my husband's insurance, which covered IVF and mine didn't. We decide to continue trying on our own in the meantime. Low and behold I got pregnant in September. I guess I relaxed thinking I was going to start IVF in January and that helped. Not only did we get pregnant, we found out at 8 weeks that we were having identical twins! My boys were born on April 13, 2011 at 29 1/2 weeks. Although they were premature they are now thriving 2 year olds and have no delays from being born premature. Thank you Dr. Toledo for making it possible!

My Story

I was diagnosed with PCOS years before ever trying to get pregnant, and I knew I would have trouble when the time came. After three years of trying fertility drugs like Clomid and Femara, we made the decision to go to a specialist. We met with Dr. Toledo in June 2008. On our first meeting with him, he looked at us an said "I will get you pregnant". True to his word, after one month of treatment, I was pregnant. Our beautiful twin boys were born thirty-six and a half weeks later. I am so thankful for the help Dr. Toledo gave us. Infertility is a long agonizing journey to be on but I'm thankful that RBA is there to help!

My Story

My husband and I found each other later in life - we were 40 when we married and decided quickly we were ready to start our family. We spent 1.5 years with no results and my OB highly recommended RBA, and Dr Toledo, specifically. Everyone at RBA was amazing. We did all the tests, found the need for one minor surgery and were confirmed infertile through it all. Then, the option of donor eggs was explained in detail and after weighing all of our options and all the costs, we decided if we are going to go for it, we are going to give it our one best shot with the best odds. So we went for it, and hit the jackpot when our twins Katie and Michael were born July 1, 2009. We'll never be able to repay Dr Toledo and the RBA staff for the most beautiful and precious gifts they helped give us, but we will be forever thankful.

My Story

I came to RBA after trying three other fertility clinics in Atlanta and I was told my case was impossible and they could not even accept me as their patient. I was told that due to many fibroid surgeries my uterus will never be able to implant an embryo so they wouldn't want to take a chance on me. I wept everyday knowing I was never going to have a child of my own until I met Dr. Scott Slayden who I think should be called the "Dr. Of impossible cases". He was very honest with me but told me that he believes that miracles still happens. I commenced treatment with RBA in September 2010 and in June 2011, I became pregnant. The good new came to me just few days before my 9th year marriage anniversary. I gave birth to my miracle baby in March 2012. I owe it all to God and the wonderful Doctors and staff of RBA. Thank you, thank you.

My Story

I married the love of my life in 2007. He was 43 and I was 35. Neither of us had been married before, it just took us a while to find each other. Both of my grandmothers had babies later in life, I'm one of four children and my sister has three kids. I knew I was older, but since I came from a line of fertile women I thought getting pregnant would be easy. After six months of trying we were referred to RBA. They ran every test imaginable, including a new AMH test. Turns out my AMH level was 0.1 below the level needed to conceive. Dr. Shapiro didn't give up on us. We knew IVF was our only option and the lab was going to be closed during our IVF window. Dr. Shapiro had them open early in order to make our IVF happen. Thanks to RBA in April 2009 my husband and I were blessed with an amazing baby boy. Dr. Shapiro is a miracle worker! Thanks to RBA my husband and I have everything we ever wanted and we couldn't be happier.

When I was 18 I was told I would never have kids. The doctors back then didn’t know the determination that Dr. Mitchell-Leef, Nancy Ellswoth, my husband and I had. Our road was long and hard. At every turn it seemed that I had another medical issue. Thanks to the tremendous support and care from the entire RBA staff, after our 4th round of IVF we were blessed with twin boys. I knew that no matter what we were facing, Dr. Mitchell-Leef and Nancy were there to help us through it. Our precious boys were born 3/11/13. We are so glad RBA reinvented the stork and brought us Adrian and Brandon.

We were struggling for along time with "unexplained fertility" and finally decided to seek assistance from RBA. Dr. Kort was our hero and guide. He helped us make decisions on ways we could be successful, and Dr. Mitchell-Leef was the one who worked her magic in the implantation. Nine months later, we welcomed our son Duncan into the world. He is the best gift we could have ever received, and I truly believe that all of the nurses and doctors at RBA are angels and miracle workers. Duncan is now 3 and a half years old, and he is a happy, healthy child who is the light of our life.

My husband Michael and I met later in life, and after a year and a half of marriage, with no pregnancies we sought help. My OB gave us a glowing recommendation to Dr Toledo and RBA. From the moment we arrived at the offices, through all the testing, diagnosis, procedures, and ultimately the decision to take one shot and make it the best odds possible, the RBA staff and especially Dr Toledo were simply amazing. So supportive and empathetic, they could write a manual for bed side manner! We couldn't have asked for more, and in the end, with a little help from God, donor eggs from the frozen egg bank, the awesome science and technology at RBA and the hands of the Embryologist and Dr Toledo, we hit the jackpot with our twins, Katie and Michael, now nearly 4 years old. We received the most amazing gift we could have imagined, and for that we will be forever grateful to RBA and Dr Toledo!

Thanks to Dr. Elsner and Dr. Kort, we became the parents of two beautiful girls over 20 years ago. After several years and tries at IVF, and it was going to our last, we became parents to a beautiful baby girl, Kelsey Marie. And two years later, another beautiful baby girl Kristina Langley. They are truly God's miracles. I had faith that God would fulfill His promise to me. I was going through one cycle and sought peace through my piano playing and all of a sudden I began playing a song that I didn't know. I was a little puzzled, and soon I realized it was a tune I had heard several times, either in church or on a CD by a famous Christian artist, Dino. The song was "For Those Tears I Died", and in looking closely at the words of the song, I realized that through all the tears and heartache of failed IVF cycles, God was giving me peace and comfort. He died for me, and was telling me to rest, relax, and find peace in knowing He would answer our prayer. He did.

I never liked doctor offices and was not happy about not being able to start a family on our own. The process is not a fun one, but your staff could not have made it easier! You made me feel like family from day one! Even when we were fortunate enough to adopt our son in 2010 you were nothing but happy for our family. Your staff is simply the best. We first went to RBA in 2009, and we were very nervous about what to expect. I had waited a long time to start a family and was surprised when it didn't happen when I decided the time was right. RBA and Dr. Mitchell helped us so much, and we were so fortunate to have our beautiful twin girls, Celia and Lily. We had some challenges along the way, but we did not give up. The end result was twins, and we couldn't be happier with our 2 daughters. My mom reminds me all of the time that the girls are little miracles. RBA made our dreams come true, and we couldn't be more appreciative of the expertise and care that we received from Dr. Mitchell and her wonderful team of nurses and colleagues. Thank you so much. Dr. Shapiro is an absolute expert in this field, and we trust him and the RBA staff without doubt or reservation. My Story

Our 7 year odyssey began with the RBA affiliate in Mississauga, Canada. We’ve been through it all - drugs, cycle monitoring, IUI’s, 4 failed rounds of IVF. We had 4 pregnancies - one missed miscarriage, one healthy full term baby, one heartbreaking Trisomy 18 baby lost at 20 weeks, and a burst ectopic. As IVF#4 failed, our doctor told us about the affiliation with RBA. I knew it was our last hope. Future uncertain, we embarked on the final leg of our journey. We chose a donor, began meds, and came to Atlanta for a “holiday”. Now just 9 months later, holding my beautiful baby girl - my little Georgia peach – I can finally cry with happiness instead of sadness. We are deeply grateful for the dedication, skill, and compassion of Drs. Goodrow, Mitchell, and Shapiro, of the nurses at our home clinic who gave hugs when I needed it, and in Atlanta who became my email lifelines at each stage of the donor egg program with advice, support and answers. We have been truly blessed.

We knew that we were meant to be parents. What we didn't know is how difficult that road would be for us. Dr Mitchell-Leef and Nancy held our hands and led us over several obstacles. They both seemed to know exactly what kind of support that we needed exactly when we needed it. We were blessed with Ella Grace in 2010. We came back for one more and we got more than we bargained for in 2012 with Wilson and Caroline. I cannot not imagine my life without each of these special miracles. Thank God for bringing us to RBA and this wonderful group of people. I truly think that what they do is more than a job...it is a calling. Not just anyone could handle my hormonal moments. Thanks Dr Mitchell-Leef and Nancy. We will always be grateful to you for our wonderful family.

After being married for 19 years, we still had no children. We really wanted one, and went to RBA. .Dr.Mitchell-Leef didn't bat an eyelash. She said if we wanted to be parents, she would help us make that dream come true. She had game-plan A, and B, and C (and probably D) up her sleeve. Her manner inspired confidence, and her entire team was so supportive. We went through seemingly every test and procedure and were blessed to deliver boy / girl twins (healthy at 8 & 7 pounds!). We hit the lottery of life having such a perfect family. Then, we realized we still had two frozen embryos. Knowing how precious our two children already were to us, we prayed for direction on what to do. We realized that we had to try again. Dr. Mitchell-Leef helped us solve another endocrine issue that I had, and then we were able to try again. 23 months after our twins, we had our third child. Blessed! THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the entire RBA team for making our family dreams come true.

My Story

We came to RBA from Columbia, SC in the summer of 2010 pretty discouraged with the whole process of trying to have a baby. It had been 2 years, 4 miscarriages, 4 IUIs (2 successful and 2 not), a lot of tears and 2 sisters, a sister in law and countless friends having success! We had been referred to RBA by a friend and to Dr. Mitchell-Leef by my OB. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt at home. The words "If you have a baby" were never used by anyone we talked to. It was just assumed we would have a baby, and they would help us achieve that goal. It was the first time in a long time we felt a sense of optimism! Dr. Mitchell-Leef wanted us to do PGD because I had some many unexplained loses. We did our first FET in Nov. 2010, and our beautiful daughter was born on July 20, 2012. We returned to RBA in April 2012 for another FET, and we just welcomed our son on Jan. 16, 2013. They gave us the family that seemed impossible to have, and they did it with love, patience and humor.

Dr Toledo helped us achieve the family we so desperately desired! I had several issues to deal with: polycystic ovarian disease and a bicornuate uterus. We were told our chances were small but Dr Toledo promised to work with us for as long as we wanted. He started us on an aggressive dosage of fertility injections - Pergonal 2 a day and Lupron 1 a day - 1 1/2 years later and months of hyperstimulated ovaries we were pregnant with our 1st daughter. 1/96 we decided to work on adding to our family - husband had to have surgery due to poorly shaped sperm. Pergonal no longer avail - we went to Fertinex 2 a day and Lupron 1 a day. A twin pregnancy was achieved. We lost one baby 5 weeks into the pregnancy - the entire staff at Dr Toledo's office cried with us. Oct, 1997 we welcomed our 2nd daughter. I cherish every second I have with my daughters. Now a freshman in college & a freshman in HS - they grow up too fast. I know I never would have had my family w/o the expertise and support at RBA

I met Dr. Mitchell-Leef in 1994 and over the next 14 years (many surgeries for Endometriosis and a marriage/divorce), she and the staff at RBA kept my body ready for the day I'd be able to start my family. In late ‘08, at 38 and newly married, the time was right. Dr. Mitchell helped us undergo IVF and I became pregnant with twin girls. To make a very long story short, at 21 weeks I delivered them preterm. Twin A (Erinn) was deceased and B (Elizabeth) passed shortly after birth. I subsequently became septic and spent 2 weeks in ICU for various issues. Once I miraculously healed and was released, I knew I had to get pregnant again ASAP. After being cleared by my doctors and because we didn’t have any saved embryos, we underwent IVF again. In November ’09, we became pregnant and Tyler John was born perfectly healthy and beautiful in July ‘10. The miracles didn’t stop there… In July ‘11, Caroline Paige was born completely unexpected, and with no fertility assistance. We are so blessed.

As a pair young newlyweds (25 and 26) who was "healthy" and "normal", my husband and I thought we would have no issues getting pregnant. I went off the pill after being on it for over 10 years and gained A LOT of weight, broke out, had undeniable cravings for sugar and carbs but never got my cycle. After 6 months of trying and being told "don't worry, it'll happen". I knew something was very wrong. My husband and I went to an information session with Dr. Toledo and he explained all of my symptoms (as part of his presentation) in detail as PCOS! We then decided he would be our doctor. Next came the appointments and the tests. After three rounds of IUI and then 2 rounds of IVF, we got "the Good call"!!! We were pregnant!! We had Leilani on August 2008, a year a half after our fertility journey began. We were blessed with Olivia in June 2010 and then Hudson in November 2011. We are now expecting #4 in September 2013. My Story

When I first considered fertility preservation, I was in my late 20s and I wasn't married. I had only known my future husband for 2 months. For the first time, I thought, “Wow, I would really like to have kids with this person.” I knew that I was going to have a hard time conceiving. Dr. Mitchell-Leef had let me know that freezing my eggs was now a viable option. For the last 5 or 6 years, many of my friends have become interested in egg preservation because of their careers. Women whose clocks are ticking at 33 now have the option to freeze their eggs and not feel rushed. To get to experience your career and have kids when you’re ready—I think it’s great. I would definitely go through the process again. It’s funny; all you go through to have the baby. It’s difficult, and taxing, and hard on a marriage - but I don’t even remember that. It’s so incredibly worth it. I would encourage anybody who has the opportunity or the means to do it. If they truly want a child, there’s no comparison.

I considered fertility preservation seven and half years ago because I was faced with a diagnosis of breast cancer. I was just engaged, my fiancé had just proposed to me two weeks before my diagnosis. The staff at RBA did a wonderful job helping me through the emotions of going through fertility preservation process. They were very sympathetic and empathetic. In the end, we were able to preserve 9 embryos. Now Sophia Grace is the light of our lives. It has brought us peace to know that if we decide to have more children, we have additional frozen embryos, and can choose the time that is best for us. I feel that every woman who is faced with a diagnosis of cancer and who would like to have a family later in life needs peace of mind to get through the cancer treatment and know that the possibility of a family is in her future. I am so grateful for Sophia Grace!
